David Neill Esq.,
Head of Legal Department,
Ross & Cromarty Area,
Highland Council,
Dingwall.

Dear Mr Neill,

Infringement of Human Rights (mine) by Mr Bob Cameron

I refer to the attached copy letter from the Ross & Cromarty area Manager, Mr Bob Cameron. In addition I wish to bring to your attention the two extracts from the application form used to obtain permission to hold a public charitable collection in Ross & Cromarty, (2005).

Naturally I responded to question 8 with a no, I can not verify whether the other 13 applicants answered no or yes to question 8. Never the less Mr Cameron referred everyone to the police for investigation. A clear case of infringement on Human Rights on those who answered as I did, no.

Doubtless in your profession you will be aware on the seriousness of Human Rights infringements by council employees or anyone employed in the public section on members of the general public. Perhaps its time Highland Council took heed of that Act.

Far from me wasting police time rather by his own admission, Mr Bob Cameron is the one who is continually doing just that, by his distrust of applicants who answer no to question 8 of the said form. I look forward to your comments and possible recommendations on applicants in 2006.

Many thanks,

Yours sincerely,
Euilleam Ross

Since the ‘Highlander’ was typeset Mr Neill has replied to my allegation.

A full page report will be included in a future issue.

However I am not convinced that my allegation is wrong. Ed.

Anthony Carson Esq.,
Scientific Officer,
TEC Services,
Highland Council,
Glenurquhart Road,
Inverness.

Dear Mr Carson,

Freedom of Information Act

I refer to the pending demolition of the 24 homes on Joss Street, Invergordon, built on the town’s old gasworks, after the potentially harmful high levels of Benzene were allegedly found by your department, beneath the two blocks of flats.

Firstly were there any positive readings taken by the monitoring equipment placed within the homes of residents in the Joss Street flats?

Secondly, under FOI I require to see a detailed copy of your findings, measurements and conclusions, as well as your recommendations to the Highland Council’s Officials, relating to the said Flats on Joss Street, Invergordon?

Thirdly, under the same Act I require a copy of your findings, measurements and recommendations to the Highland Council’s Officials, relating to the new Tesco Supermarket site, Dingwall, also partly built on the disused town gasworks site.?

Fourthly, do you personally consider that prevention is better than cure when it comes to potential cancer causing substances being identified?

Lastly did your department cross reference the readings from the Dingwall Tesco site with those obtained from the Joss Street flats area?

Many thanks.

Euilleam Ross.
